JP Rodriguez
JP is a native of south Florida who has been playing guitar and drums since age 9. He is a solo artist who writes and records all his own original music as well as doing all of his own production. His dream has always been to be a performing artist and actor.
His influences are John Petrucci/Dream Theater, Jason Richardson, Jimmy Page, Muse and is a fan of odd time signatures. His genre is a mix of progressive metal, math rock and metal with jazz influences.
He also writes, directs, produces and acts in short films and is an aspiring actor and producer.
The Beginning
JP Started out playing guitar at age 9 and he also took drum lessons. He played percussion in middle school. JP took private guitar and drum lessons until age 13 when he started at the School of Rock, where he learned how to perform in a live band. He was a member of the national touring House Band for 3 years and was a national touring All Star for 2 years (the top 1% students worldwide are accepted)
JP studied Music Technology after graduating from High School and now teaches guitar and bass and is a show director at the School of Rock while he pursues his music and acting career.
Looking to the Future
JP is currently working on new music and is always looking for other musicians to collaborate with.
He also recently released his short film Counterfeit: Decadence, the 3rd and last film in his Counterfeit trilogy.
